However, an alarm’s functionality doesn’t end here, and can be used to set up all kinds of reminders. For instance, AlarmJ is a simple tool in case you got something coming in the next 90 minutes which you don’t want to miss.

Can be used on the go

A cool thing about it is that it’s portable, and, on the one hand, this means there’s no setup involved. On the other hand, it’s easy to carry around on a thumb drive just so you’re able to set alarms regardless of the computer you’re using. Don’t worry though, because the health status of the target PC is not affected, since registry entries remain intact.
There’s not really any effort put into the visual design, but this doesn’t make the application difficult to handle. A couple of fields need to be filled in with the right values for minutes and seconds. A set of buttons is also in plain sight so you choose the alarm sound, test it out, and start the alarm.

Only offers a countdown mode

Unfortunately, there’s only one method of operation, and that’s to configure a countdown timer in minutes. You can’t go beyond 90 minutes, which affects overall practicality. There is the possibility to have multiple alarms configured, but this means you need to launch a different instance for each new alarm.
The application comes with several preset audio alerts which ring when the specified time comes. There’s no direct method of editing them from the window, so changing sounds needs to be done by replacing files in the source folder, but be sure to keep the exact name.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that AlarmJ isn’t really what you’re hoping to find in a personal alarm clock. There’s no possibility to set an exact time for the alarm, leaving you with only a simple, 90 minutes countdown mode.
