CheckUDisk

CheckUDisk is a tiny and portable application dedicated for Windows computers, which can be used to check out device information on USB devices. It's capable of detecting the devices connected to all USB ports, including peripheral devices, enabling you to simply select an entry from a list to view the related details.

View USB info using a portable tool

Since it's not necessary to go through an installation operation, you can just unpack the downloaded file and double-click the .exe to reach the main app window. There are no software dependencies involved, and the utility doesn't create any files on the hard disk.
The USB devices are automatically detected at startup but you have to check the "All USB Device" box to see them. The interface is quite simplistic, made from just one window that lists the names of all USB devices and shows detailed information for any selected entry.

Examine and copy USB details

For instance, you can check out the vendor and product identification numbers (VIDs and PIDs), speed, vendor and product description, along with the serial number. It's not possible to save all this info to file and there is no visible button for copying data to the clipboard.
On the other hand, you can select text in the description pane and copy it using Ctrl+C or from the right-click menu. There's also an option for safely ejecting the selected USB device which, unfortunately, triggered an error on Windows 10 in our tests and lead to CheckUDisk's immediate exit.

Easy-to-use USB information viewer

Besides this minor error, there were no compatibility issues with the latest Windows version in our tests, although the tool hasn't received updates for a while. It instantly revealed USB info and remained light on system resources usage throughout its runtime.
Although there are many of USB info viewers out there, CheckUDisk is simple, straightforward and can offer information unsupported by other similar utilities. It's also portable, lightweight and freeware. It supports not only USB storage devices but also peripherical devices, like mice, keyboards or webcams.
