CLIPTEXT

CLIPTEXT is a tiny and portable software application that acts like a Clipboard manager, made to help you easily store text in a user-friendly interface in order to quickly insert it later into any third-party program. It doesn't come equipped with advanced options or configuration parameters, making it accessible to all types of users.
Before proceeding any further, you should know that the utility hasn't been updated for a long time, and it may not deliver expected results on modern OS configurations.

Portability advantages

Since installation is not necessary, you can extract the program files anywhere on the hard drive and just click the executable to launch CLIPTEXT. Another possibility is to save it to a removable storage unit (like a pen drive) in order to seamlessly run it on any PC without any previous installers. Moreover, it doesn't modify Windows registry settings, so it doesn't increase the risk of OS stability issues.

Outdated interface with simple options

Made from a small window with an outdated look, the interface has just a couple of options listed. It contains nine empty clips and has a key (number) assigned to each one. You can edit the display and text content for each entry, in order to be able to seamlessly insert the clip into a a third-party application by just triggering the corresponding key combination, whether we are talking about common text or URLs.
It's possible to delete these entries or later edit their properties, as well as to ask CLIPTEXT to automatically copy a clip to the Clipboard as soon as it's selected. There are no other notable options available here.

Evaluation and conclusion

CPU and RAM consumption was low in our tests, so CLIPTEXT didn't hamper system performance. However, due to the fact that it's such an old app, it's not up-to-date with recent Windows editions. For instance, the application automatically exited every time we attempted to select a clip or edit its properties.
Therefore, you should check out more reliable Clipboard managers for your daily PC activities, such as M8 Free Clipboard, ArsClip, PhraseExpress or AutoClipX.
