Packed Driver Detector

Packed Driver Detector is a tiny and portable piece of kit that scans your computer for files with the SYS format, stored by rootkits to hide their presence on the system. By identifying these malicious agents, you are able to permanently remove them from your PC.
Since installation is not a requirement, you can save the program to a USB flash drive or similar storage unit, and run it on any computer. Therefore, you can keep Packed Driver Detector in your pocket whenever you're on the move.
Alternatively, you can just drop the executable file on any location of the hard drive and run it. What must be mentioned is that Windows Registry is not updated with new entries, and no files are left behind on the hard drive after program removal.
The interface of the application is represented by a standard window where the "what you see is what you get" principle clearly applies, since there are no other features available, aside from Packed Driver Detector's main functionality.
Initializing the scanning procedure can be done with the simple click of a button. If any packet driver files exist on your system, then you can view their file path. Unfortunately, the app does not integrate a function to let you export log details to an external file (e.g. TXT). But you can copy data to the Clipboard via the context menu or by using the global hotkey.
The straightforward software tool is low-demanding when it comes to the CPU and system memory, has a good response time and quickly finishes a scanning job. No error dialogs have been shown in our testing and the program did not hang or crash; we haven't encountered any issues in our tests. All in all, Packed Driver Detector offers a simple method to quickly locate any rootkit SYS files on your computer.
