PictureFrame Description
PictureFrame is a small desktop enhancement application whose purpose is to help you display a picture frame on your screen. You can choose between several frame models and activate them on the fly. The utility can be deployed on Windows 2K, XP, Vista, and 7.
Portable tool
This is a portable program. You can store it on USB flash drives or other portable devices to have it with you all the time. In addition, you may run it without administrative privileges.
Gaining access to its features requires only opening the executable file because there’s no setup included in the process. It does not write entries to your Windows registry and leave other configuration files on the target PC. It actually saves the settings data on the storage device.
How it works
As soon as you double-click on the executable file, PictureFrame automatically places a colorful frame on your desktop. You cannot perform mouse clicks through the frame and the frame is not transparent. This means that a lot of your desktop space is sacrificed in the name of beautiful desktop enhancements.
PictureFrame gives you the possibility to select from various frame models. They are actually eight frames included in the package. If you get bored of the predefined options, you may edit or make your own frame using a third-party image editor.
Frames can also be activated with the aid of preset hotkeys. Plus, you may pin the frames to the screen or disable this particular mode if you want to still have access to your Windows taskbar.
Tests have shown that the application carries out a task quickly and without errors. It does not eat up a lot of CPU and memory resources so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered.
Final remarks
To sum things up, PictureFrame comes packed with basic features for helping you place colorful frames on your desktop and get rid of the same old looks. The simplistic suite of options makes it suitable especially for less experienced users.
