Portable QIF2CSV

Designed as the portable edition of QIF2CSV, this is a small-sized and straightforward application for Windows that enables you to seamlessly convert financial files from QIF to CSV format.

Portability advantages

As there is no installation necessary, you can save the program files in a custom location on the hard disk and immediately launch the executable file. There is another possibility to save QIF2CSV to a USB flash drive or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC effortlessly and without previous installers.
In addition, the app does not modify Windows registry settings or create files on the HDD without asking you first, thus leaving it clean after removal.

Classical-looking and intuitive interface

At startup you are asked to point out a QIF file using the traditional file browser. QIF2CSV is wrapped in a plain-looking interface that does not put too much emphasis on looks. Fortunately, it is quite easy to navigate.
In the main frame you can view transaction information such as account names, dates, payees, amounts and memos, along with categories, memorized items and the source. Any of this information can be easily copied to the Clipboard with the click of a button.
As far as settings are concerned, it is possible to select the currency, shares and date formats, ask QIF2CSV to immediately open the new file after conversion, as well as change the UI language, among others. In order to save the new file, all you have to do is point out the new directory and file name.

Evaluation and conclusion

There were no kind of problems in our tests, as QIF2CSV did not hang, crash or display error messages. It has a good response time to commands and carries out conversion jobs rapidly while remaining light on the system resources. All in all, QIF2CSV provides a simple solution to creating CSV files from QIF-formatted transactions, backed by useful configuration settings.
