Audio tone generators can be very helpful for testing specialized equipment, and you can even have a bit of fun listening to sound at various frequencies across the human hearing range.
RedCrab SonoG is a relatively simple application that provides you with two tone generators, which can be used simultaneously. It can also generate DTMF signals, and it is not difficult to use, though some improvements are necessary in this regard.

Generate audio tones at various frequencies

The application allows you to use two identical tone generators, which are displayed in the main window side by side. You can use the number pads to enter values, and the sound frequency can be fine-tuned using the dials.
RedCrab SonoG can generate audio tones between the 1Hz – 20 kHz range. The lower limit is well below the human threshold of hearing (around 20 Hz), but most people should be able to hear sounds with frequencies close to 20 kHz.

Offers several advanced features, but no documentation

In addition to generating simple tones, the application allows you to choose between multiple types of waveforms, such as sinusoidal and rectangular. It also supports, tone-burst, modulation, sweep and DTMF pulses.
However, it would have been great if RedCrab SonoG offered some documentation, as first-time users may have a hard time figuring out what some of the controls are for.

Relatively easy to use, but it could do with some small improvements

While the application is not particularly difficult to use, selecting the right frequency takes a bit longer than we would have liked. Values cannot be entered directly with key presses, as you have to use the keypads, and the dials are better suited for making small adjustments.
Overall, RedCrab SonoG is a lightweight application that can be both useful and fun. It is designed to generate audio tones at various frequencies, enabling you to test both your hearing and sound equipment. It lacks documentation, however, and changing the audio frequency is a bit too difficult.
