Win GAC

Developed in Visual Basic 2008, Win GAC is a Windows Forms tool that supports .NET Framework 3.5, 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0. It enables you to install multiple managed .NET assemblies to the .NET Global Assembly Cache.
The app represents a graphical interface for the GACUtil.exe console utility from .NET Framework. Although it includes advanced options, these can be easily put in motion even by users less experienced with such software.

After a speedy installation procedure that shouldn't give you any trouble, you're greeted by a user-friendly GUI made from a large window with a neatly organized structure.

Select and install .NET assemblies to GAC

Once you've selected a .NET Framework version from the drop-down menu, you can use the built-in file browser to locate .NET assemblies and add them to the list.
It's possible to view the GAC's current contents, remove any assembly from the list if you change your mind, as well as install the remaining ones to the GAC with one click. Output log details can be examined in the bottom part of the screen. From this point on, you can access GAC to evaluate results.

Evaluation and conclusion

We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the program didn't freeze, crash or show error dialogs. It used a low amount of CPU and RAM, so it didn't hamper the system's performance. Although it hasn't been updated for a long time, we haven't found any compatibility problems with newer Windows models.
In conclusion, Win GAC comes loaded with straightforward options for quickly installing .NET assemblies to GAC. It's free and can be handled with ease by all types of users.
