WinAFV32

WinAFV32 is a compact and portable application designed to calculate the CRC32 and MD5 checksums of any file. It is not particularly intuitive at a first glance but easy to work with, once you figure out its options.
Since installation is not a requirement, you can drop the executable file anywhere on the hard disk and click it to run. It is also possible to move WinAFV32 to a removable device to run it on any computer with minimum effort.
What's more important is that the Windows Registry does not get new entries, and leftovers do not remain on the HDD after eliminating the utility. A standard file deletion is enough to accomplish this task.
The interface is pretty plain. In order to calculate the CRC32 or MD5 signatures, you can use an Explorer-based folder structure to select one or more files from the computer, specify the saving directory for the AFV or SFV file (for CRC32), or MD5 format, and start the procedure with the click of a button.
WinAFV32 shows log details in regard to total files and bytes remaining and processed, along with the current speed and errors. In addition, you can write comments and view reports.
Another feature of WinAFV32 lets you verify the checksum of a file by comparing it with an existing value. As far as program settings are concerned, you can enable modern buttons and fade effects, make file format associations, as well as ask WinAFV32 to remember the last used folder.
The simple-to-use utility is light on the system resources, using low CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and carries out a task quickly and error-free. The tool did not hang or crash in our evaluation. However, WinAFV32 has not been updated for a pretty long time, and it does not properly display Explorer context menu entries on newer OS platforms.
