Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, two names you’ve certainly heard of back in the 90s, after all, Donkey Kong Country is one of the titles that greatly contributed to a wonderful decade in gaming. A Tribute To Donkey Kong Country: First World is a readaptation of the popular game which uses the Unreal Development Kit to deliver a very appealing game.
No one steals Donkey Kong’s bananas
The plot to A Tribute To Donkey Kong Country: First World is pretty much the same as in the original title but there are plenty of differences when it comes to the enemies you face and their names. You know, there is that thing called copyright and this is meant to be a remake that honors the original game.
Things start off with Donkey Kong’s hoard of bananas being stolen by the evil Kroolenstein who intends to use them to power his army of robot crocodiles or Krobots. Since bananas are the only things that matter, you embark on this grand adventure along with your nephew, Diddy Kong, to recover the stolen fruit.
Gameplay that stays faithful to the original
When it comes to gameplay, A Tribute To Donkey Kong Country: First World tries to keep things as close as possible to the original. You still get the barrel roll and groundslam attacks for both the characters, you can collect the K O N G initials, balloons and bananas for extra lives and so on.
What makes this fan-made game very appealing are the graphics. Since the Unreal Development Kit has been used to piece it together, it delivers great lighting effects, wonderful details, smooth animations and allowed its developer (yep, one man made this) to amplify mechanics and create some epic moments.
If you liked Donkey Kong Country, you’ll really like this remake
On a closing note, A Tribute To Donkey Kong Country: First World is a great game to play if you’re into platformers, especially considering this ones roots. It looks great, it’s challenging and it’s Donkey Kong in 3D.
