Description

Tanks are some of the most efficient battle machines out there, especially when you consider the fact that they are still used even today, in spite of the available technology. Its versatility and ability to cause a lot of damage allow the tank to remain an important piece in every army around the world. On the other hand, the human element might be eliminated from the equation entirely.

Two players battling on the same map

Beach Hell Tanks is a local multiplayer action game in which two players have to battle each other using tanks. The game is played on the same keyboard, just like in the good old days of the split screen. On the other hand, there’s not much variety included with the experience, which means that it might get boring after a few minutes of gameplay.
To begin with, the map is always the same, and it’s meant to be a beach somewhere in hell. Thus, the sea is actually made of lava, although there are rocks preventing you from going into it. The beach itself is populated with chairs and tables, all of which can be easily crushed using your tank. In addition, it must be mentioned that this is a jam game, so it’s only natural that it’s very basic and it lacks content.

Simple graphics and even simpler controls

The tanks have only one weapon at their disposal, which is the cannon mounted on top. Thus, you can fire projectiles at your enemy, and it’s possible to adjust the power of the shot by holding the fire button for longer. It’s not a very precise system, but then again the game is simple enough not to require too much precision, especially since you need three buttons to play.
The same simplicity can be found in the graphics department as well, although that’s not to say the game looks bad. In fact, the colorful, low-poly style goes great with the general pace of the action, even if there’s not much to look at most of the time. Moreover, the post-processing effects added on top hide small imperfections and make the game look smoother.

More work needed for the game to be engaging

In the end, it would seem like Beach Hell Tanks is on the right track, but there’s not enough content right now to be worth a lot of effort. Hence, without more maps, game modes or tanks, the game becomes repetitive after a few minutes.
