BOT RACE

Endless runners are either incredibly fun or incredibly boring, because it’s quite difficult to come up with something that keeps players engaged over long periods of time. Most of the blame rests with the fact that you have to reset the stage hundreds of times, which means that it can get repetitive in a rush. However, thanks to modern advancements in the field, random environments are the perfect solution to this.

Control a shapeshifting android

BOT RACE is an endless runner in which you have to avoid all sorts of traps and use a robot that can change shapes in order to deal with all the other obstacles. It’s not very difficult to get acquainted with the gameplay, but it takes a lot of practice and patience to become really good at it. In fact, the game is quite polished, especially when you consider the fact that it was designed in a very short time for a game jam competition.
In short, your android can jump, use his fists to break glass, shrink in size and swell like a balloon in order to glide for a few seconds. All of these abilities are easily accessible from your keyboard or the mouse, and you must switch between them as quickly as possible to keep up with the track. It may sound easy, but it’s anything but that once you make a few meters on the track.

Randomly generated environments

Speaking of which, the track is randomly generated every time you start a new round, which means that you do not have to worry about getting bored. Obviously, some of the tracks can be a tad more challenging than others, but it’s all pretty even at the end of the day. In addition, it’s quite marvelous so see so much variety from such a small game.
Even the graphics look pretty well, even if there’s not much to see. The obstacles and the traps are pretty simple, and so is the rest of the environment, but at least the animations are smooth and always on point. As a little bonus, the robot you play with is actually Marvin from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, so you can be sure that he hates doings this.

A great little game with tons of potential

All things considered, BOT RACE is pretty engaging, not to mention fun and challenging. Even if nothing is added to it in the future, you can still have a lot of fun with it if you enjoy endless runners.
