Description

People are very resilient creatures that can survive in a variety of harsh conditions, mainly because we adapt to the environment or we change it completely to fit our needs. However, after many of these things have been solved over the centuries and most humans do not need to worry about shelter, food or many other things that were considered luxuries not long ago, it turns out that our own brain keeps us from being happy.

A tiresome weekend alone in a room

Robin is a very interesting concept that aims to shine a bit of light on a condition called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which is about as straightforward as it sounds. Hence, people suffering from it feel tired on a regular basis, sometimes too tired to take care of themselves or anyone else. On top of that, it’s pretty difficult to diagnose as well, because even those who have it think that they are just lazy or temporarily tired.
The game starts with the main character Robin Summers being told by her doctor that there is nothing physically wrong with her after her blood tests come back negative. Hence, she heads back home and spends a weekend trying to relax and unwind, which is where you come in. As such, your role is to help Robin choose the right activities to keep life in check.

Multiple endings that increase replayability

The main issue is that Robin only has energy for a handful of activities every day, which means that it’s important to choose them wisely. Thus, everything is tiring to her, including taking a shower, feeding her bird, eating and so on. At the end of every day you are presented with a mini report about what Robin did and didn’t do, although you are obviously going to miss a lot of things.
Depending on what you choose to do, the game presents you with a handful of possible endings, although you shouldn't expect anything too groundbreaking either. Nothing changes when it comes to the environment or the actions you can undertake, which is a bit of a bummer, because it gets repetitive in a rush. On the other hand, the game is meant to be short and eye-opening, and it does that pretty well.

A unique experience that sends a message

All things considered, Robin is clearly not going to win a place in the video games hall of fame, but that wasn’t its purpose anyway. However, it may shine a bit of light on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which may help a few people and spread awareness about the condition.
