Description

Starsiege: Tribes is a ‘blast from the past’ of a game that won fans thanks to how well it balanced gameplay features, visual design and online play. It’s a first-person shooter that throws you into one of two teams and leaves you in a wide range of battlefields to fight with everything you have.

A first-person action game in the true sense

The action in Starsiege: Tribes is set in the 40th century and as you would expect, humanity is collapsing due to a constant war for supremacy. There are four factions to side with, several game modes to try out and loads of killing to do, this is a straightforward shooter.
Starsiege: Tribes doesn’t have a single player mode, you just pick from a multitude of maps and join the fight. It offers modes such as capture the flag, deathmatch, capture and hold, defend and destroy and so on, you know, the classics which have always worked well. Add in a bunch of interesting weapons that are well suited for sniping and all in run-and-gun scenarios, strap on some jetpacks and you have more than enough for an action-packed game.

The good ones are remembered and kept alive

Starsiege: Tribes’s biggest setback is that its time of glory has set a long time ago. By today’s standards the graphics are seriously outdated and gameplay feels slow when compared to titles that have surfaced in relatively recent times. However, the fans have managed to keep it alive and through the use of mods and player created updates, Starsiege: Tribes is still active.
It takes you a bit to find a server and if you haven't played it when it was fresh, your first encounter with it might last only a few minutes. It won’t do it for you if you weren't there in the good old days because now it’s just an old.

One of the best in the eyes of a lot of people

To conclude, Starsiege: Tribes is a very good example of what once was the game to have. It had it all, gameplay, action, graphics, excitement, tons of maps, eternally full servers and a dedicated community. Now, it’s that online shooter from ‘98 that was really fun to play.
