Description

Skeletons are not really supposed to be spooky anymore, not after horror movies and video games featured so much worse over the decades. A couple of bones moving around won’t impress anyone, which is why skeletons are only displayed as funny Halloween decorations now. On the other hand, one can’t help but wonder into what sort of problems would someone without a digestive tract would run into.

Dismember your friends with style

The Skeleton War is a multiplayer action game with a very simple premise: dismember the enemies and use their own bones against them. Every player is actually a skeleton, so the dismemberment is not as gruesome as you might imagine. In fact, it is quite amusing to see bones flying off your body when someone puts a shovel to them. On the other hand, this only works in multiplayer, so you need to find people to play it with.
There are two game modes to choose from, and both can be incredibly fun with the right people. One of them is as close to the classic deathmatch as possible, except it doesn’t feature any guns. Instead, you have to gain points by breaking the bones of your enemies, or by killing them entirely. The other mode is called Dye Another Day, and it challenges you to find all of your bones in the same color.

Good graphics and decent gameplay mechanics

The game is played from a third-person perspective, which means that it’s not that difficult to target down enemies and be aware of your surroundings. On the other hand, there are some glitches when it comes to attacks, mainly in the form of clipping and delayed action. However, the impact on the actual gameplay is minimum, so you can definitely still enjoy the experience.
The graphics quality is above average, however, which is especially visible when it comes to post-processing effects. Most in-game objects are pretty detailed as well, not to mention the maps and the environments. On the other hand, the level design is a bit too basic and uninspired, so a few additions to the map would go a long way in this regard.

Solid fun both on LAN and over the Internet

All things being equal, there is some more work to be done with the game. However, The Skeleton War is fun enough to captivate you from the first few minutes, especially if you play it with friends. It is actually recommended to do so, because there are barely any servers out there.
