3GP_Converter Description
3GP_Converter is a small tool that can encode several video formats (including AVI, FLV, M4V, MOV, MPG, MPEG, 3GP and MP4) to 3GP, MP4 and other extensions.
The application doesn't require any installation, so your Windows registry entries will not be affected. Since this is a portable product, you can also place it on an external device and directly run it on any computer.
The program is very simple to use. You can initiate the "Setup" to configure the output profile (e.g. "General: AVI, MPEG4 General setting") and select your preferred language.
3GP_Converter's user interface consists of a small window in which you can add files only by using the "drag and drop" method (batch conversions are supported), as well as set the output directory.
Furthermore, you can select one of the predefined settings profiles and you cannot make any customizations.
The program uses a very low amount of system resources, completes a task in a short amount of time and manages to keep a very good image and sound quality.
However, 3GP_Converter doesn't come with any kind of help file and doesn't specify what video formats it recognizes. So, it can become a time-consuming process to discover this information on your own.
For example, we tried converting several VOB files to the 3GP format. The program labeled the task as a success but we were unable to open the respective files with any media player. However, after converting VOB files to the AVI format, we were able to open them, but the image quality was damaged and the video didn't run smoothly.
All in all, 3GP_Converter could be a great tool for encoding video files. Nonetheless, it needs some major improvements when it comes to the navigational aspect and functionality. Other than that, it can be used by both rookies and experts.
