AddInSpy Description
AddInSpy is a diagnostic utility you can use when developing Microsoft Office add-ins as well as troubleshooting issues with native Office add-ins.
The downloaded package also includes AS, which is similar. The difference is that, while AddInSpy is a standalone WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) application, AS is a scriptable console tool. They both share the library (AddInScanEngine.dll), dont require administrative credentials to execute, and are compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, although theyre 32-bit apps.
The utilities arent wrapped in a setup package, so you can copy the files anywhere on the PC and double-click an .exe to run. The interface of AddInSpy is made of a classical window with a simple structure, enabling you to filter hosts by type, such as Microsoft Access, Excel, FrontPage, InfoPath, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Publisher, SharePoint Designer, Visio, or Word.
Details include the host name, loaded and running add-in, type, friendly name, program and class ID, manifest, DLL path, registry hive, assembly, and interfaces, among others.
Scans may be executed on all areas for add-in issues, or just specific ones, such as HKCU or HKLM registry hives, remote, managed or native interfaces, disabled items, or form regions. Automatic data refresh can be enabled. Meanwhile, reports with the add-ins, context (machine name, user/domain name, OS, VSTO environment variables) or both kinds of information can be saved as XML files.
Please note that the program is unsupported.System requirementsNET CLR 2.0 and .NET Framework 3.5.
AddInSpy and AS do not require administrative privileges to run.
On Windows Vista, AddInSpy and AS work with UAC either on or off.
AddInSpy and AS are both 32-bit applications, and will run on either 32-bit or 64-bit platforms. They target 32-bit Office only.
