AMP Tile Viewer Description
Not all pictures are used in the raw form they’re captured by the camera. Most of them don’t even look anything like the original anymore after processing. Combined and enhanced, images are used across various areas of expertise. For instance, applications like AMP Tile Viewer let you create and view mosaic tiles out of local image files.
Interface and file support
Once it launches, the main window pops up and reveals its classic window elements, with nothing to make it stand out from the crowd. However, this simplicity helps you quickly accommodate, since you don’t feel overwhelmed by too many elements. Most of the space is the preview area, with functions stored and accessed from the upper toolbar.
Pictures can be loaded simply by dragging them over the main window, or through the built-in browse dialog. However, you can insert just one at a time, and you need to make sure it’s under formats like JPG, GIF, TIFF, PSD, BMP, PSP,TGA, ICO, WIN, PCX, PCS, PPM, RGB, RLA, PIC, CUT, and more.
Leaves more to be desired
As soon as the picture loads, the preview area is covered with the same picture over and over again, thus automatically creating a tile, image. You can zoom in or out for better analysis. General details are placed in a small panel, which you either access from the context-menu or upper toolbar.
If the new tile design looks appealing, it’s possible to have it saved either as BMP or JPG. Unfortunately, there’s no possibility to set the size of the output layout, and chances are the result is not quite what was expected. What’s more, you can’t adjust quality settings except for the JPG percentage level.
To sum it up
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that AMP Tile Viewer is a straightforward application that can be used to create bigger tile images out of small thumbnails and sorts. The set of features it comes with leaves more to be desired, both in terms of editing, as well as the way tiles are build, since there’s no other way to manually interfere.
