Apollo Description
Apollo was developed to be a user-friendly knowledge modeling application. Modeling is based around the basic primitives, such as classes, instances, functions, relations etc. Internal model is build as a frame system according to the internal model of the OKBC protocol. Apollo does a full consistency check while editing.
Apollo is not bound to any knowledge representation language and can be adapted to support different storage formats via I/O plug-ins. Apollos user interface has an open architecture ( view based ) and allows for implementation of additional views of the knowledge base.
Apollo CH is an ontology editor tool for communities of interest that can be used generally in many applications. It uses its own knowledge model, which is based on frames and is independent on any knowledge modeling language. Usage of input and output plug-ins enables to start dealing with whichever particular knowledge
modeling language.
Apollo CH has been equipped with additional functionalities categorized into the following three items:
- Functionalities aimed at improving efficiency of users work when editing large ontologies/knowledge bases. These include mainly new ways of navigation in large ontologies/knowledge bases.
- Functionalities aimed at allowing the user to do ontology consolidation on a high level of abstraction. The methodology of collaborative creation of knowledge bases expected the user using rather low-level  tools for comparing ontologies and integrating users contribution with the shared consolidated knowledge base. Apollo CH has been equipped with modules providing the user with a means how to carry out this difficult task on a higher level of abstraction and thus easier, more reliably and more efficiently.
- Functionalities aimed at developing robust knowledge base. They ensure that the knowledge base produced by Apollo CH meets the necessary constrains.System requirementsJava Runtime
