Ares YouTube Downloader

Ares YouTube Downloader is designed to help users in grabbing videos and audios from YouTube. The application allows you to apply limited conversions to the source files.

Saving files is just a few fields away

The application is very intuitive and features only one working window. This contains simple options for defining the source URL and the destination path.
Users are free to modify these fields and there is also an “Open folder” button, which is great for actually checking the contents of the destination directory (very useful when downloads are performed very often and redundant operations are likely).
Once these fields have received input from users, the large and conspicuously center-placed “Download” button can be activated to start the task. The status bar just below activates and displays feedback to users.

Features basic conversion capabilities

A nice but somewhat limited function of this application is that it allows users to choose the format of the output file. There are only five options to choose from: MP3, MP4, FLV, 3GP and WebM.
Perhaps future version will improve on this, by adding support for a few more extensions (e.g. AVI, WAV and MOV). This being said, the options currently available are well-suited for most basic needs.
Another functionality-improver would be a file previewer. A side mini-window that displays a quick preview of the inserted URL would really be useful. At the same time, automatic link grabbing from browsers would significantly improve the user-experience.
All in all, Ares YouTube Downloader works great for the basic job it sets out to do. A few more functions would give it the glitter necessary to distinguish itself from the plethora of similar products!
