Ashampoo Rescue System is designed for situations when your computer refuses to boot to Windows or start normally, providing a simple means to access and load backups you previously created with Ashampoo Backup Pro. Note that no other backup file can be used with Ashampoo Rescue System.

Rescue system for any Windows machine

As Ashampoo Rescue System is deployed as an ISO file only, a dedicated application is needed to create a CD or a bootable USB drive. This will be your personal rescue system, available within reach whenever the computer fails to boot into Windows.
The rescue system is automatically detected during system boot, so you can access it or choose to run it in ‘Safe Mode’.

Restore backups from local drives or cloud services

Following a quick setup process, you are presented with a Ubuntu-based mini-operating system that the Ashampoo Rescue System runs on. Aside from the built-in recovery application, the mini-OS also comes with an integrated browser that you can use to search for information that might help you figure out the booting problems you are facing, as well as an Explorer-like file manager, a terminal, and a few more tools.
There are several supported locations you can look for the backup files, starting with the local drive and continuing with network paths, cloud-based storage services (such as Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Strato HiDrive), the 1&1 hosting service, MagentaCLOUD by Telekom, or a WebDAV Server. Whatever location you want to choose, please keep in mind that the source file must be a backup created by Ashampoo Backup Pro.

A rescue solution of last resort

The idea behind Ashampoo Rescue System is to offer a simple solution for situations when the PC is not starting, and an alternative to Windows restore points as well. However, the integrated restore system of Windows might be easier to work with, since it allows you to revert to a previously working state by pressing a few ‘Next’ buttons.
Furthermore, let’s not forget that a rescue system such as Ashampoo’s requires you to periodically create a system backup, either on the local or network drives or online. And this, in its turn, might trigger other problems, this time related to data security.
