Simple interface quickly gets you up and running

Once the installation is done preparing all files the application needs to function, you can fire it up to see if it’s a suitable replacement for your default player. A compact main window pops up, with a stylish design, but all functions packed inside a classic window frame. Elements are easily distinguishable, and you can easily tell playback controls from different details, progress and volume sliders.
There’s a sample file already loaded so you easily get familiar. However, you can go ahead and load other MP3, WAV, or M3U files either by using built-in dialog for individual files, entire folders, or dragging them over the main window.

Playlist editor and other options

A playlist editor can be accessed from the options menu. It stays active alongside the player itself. The same type of files can be imported, and in the same manner. Moreover, you have the possibility to also include URLs in case you just want to connect to a radio station.
However, the application’s set of features is pretty straightforward, with no equalizer or any other kind of effects and enhancements to apply. Hotkey commands are not implemented, so you can’t just minimize the application and change songs or volume a bit easier, while attending other activities.
There’s a small set of options put at your disposal. Although not seen in the main window, you can make the application automatically repeat items in the playlist once it’s done. In addition, you can have files checked, so that related info is shown in a dedicated info panel.

All in all, Audioactive Player is a straightforward application with the main purpose of providing a simple, fast method to listen to favorite tunes and bands. Unfortunately, the set of features it comes with leaves a bit more to be desired, even in terms of visuals, not to mention lack of hotkey support or built-in equalizer.
