Auslogics Disk Defrag Screen Saver is a simple application that reduces the fragmentation of the Windows registry when your computer is in idle state, showing progress and results in a screensaver animation.
It does not come equipped with complicated settings, so the tool may be used with confidence even by beginners.
Once installed, the tool is automatically set as the default screensaver of your computer. All you have to do is specify one or multiple partitions to analyze for defragmentation from the "Settings" panel.
From this point on, Auslogics Disk Defrag Screen Saver carries out the defrag task each time the computer displays the screensaver. It shows a progress bar, path for the currently processed file, defragmentation percentage, fragmentation level, total files defragmented, and discovered clusters, along with the task date and time.
The graphical representation displays defragmented, not fragmented, fragmented and processing clusters, Master File Table (MFT), and free space. Unfortunately, activity is not recorded to a log file for closer inspection.
The program has a good response time and carries out a defragmentation task rapidly and error-free. We have not come across any issues in our tests, since the tool did not hang or crash. Although is has not been updated for a while, it works fine on later operating systems, including Windows 8.1.
