Optimizing the download speed and bandwidth usage when running P2P or torrent clients is a must, especially if you need the Internet connection for something else than grabbing files of the web. When it comes to uTorrent, you can manage the throttling rate, but it has to be done by hand, each time you need some extra bandwidth for web browsing or other purposes.
A dedicated utility that can do this automatically is the one called AutoUTorrent. This lightweight application runs right out of the box, meaning it doesn't require installation. Instead, all you have to do is tinker with its options a bit to obtain optimal performance.
The very easy to use GUI, inelaborate as it may be, has all the functions at hand and you will be able to customize the necessary settings in no time. AutoUTorrent features an 'Auto Mode' that checks the system and allows uTorrent to use the entire bandwidth if the PC is idle.
As soon as you start using your computer again, the program begins the throttling so that the speed for torrent downloads and uploads can be adjusted in such a manner that you can still have a very good connection and access the Internet without experiencing any bottlenecks.
The values for download and upload speed when the system is idle or busy can be adjusted manually, just like those for the check interval and idle timeout (in seconds). When in 'Auto Mode' you can check out the activity detected by AutoUTorrent if the 'Show notifications' box is checked.
The software is also able to display diagnostic information with details including token, URL and GUID data. You can view the response from uTorrent as well from the same notifications' area.
All in all, AutoUTorrent is a pretty useful application that will surely solve some of the bandwidth problems of many uTorrent users. Since it is able to do almost everything on its own, with minimal configurations, this software is well suited for beginners and experienced users alike.
