AviScreen Portable

AviScreen Portable is a software solution designed to help you capture screen activity either by taking screenshots or by recording video files.
Since it's portable, the application can always be copied on a USB flash drive and used on every computer without even installing it. All you need to do is to copy all files on the portable device and double click the executable file, so it's all just a matter of seconds.
Features are neatly organized in tabs placed at the top of the main window. There's a dedicated option to define the capture area, with multiple settings including full screen, a custom size and a selected object, but also several predefined dimensions.
The second tab gives you the power to change the shortcut key you will use to take a screenshot, start a new recording, pause or stop the movie. And since we're already talking about the movie, there is a separate tab to configure frames per second, delay before capture and video compression.
On the other hand, users who prefer to take screenshots rather than recording new movies can change picture format and quality (only if opting for JPG), but also the output folder where all files will be saved.
It all worked flawlessly during our test and owners of older computers are advised to use the System Tray icon to take screenshots and start new recordings because keyboard shortcuts might slow down their machines a little bit.
To sum it up, AviScreen Portable does a pretty decent job and delivers great results with minimal efforts. Very easy to use and available on the go, this application can very well become one of the favorites in its category.
