Bas-relief Description
Bas-relief is a Windows application whose purpose is to help you perform 2D to 3D conversions using a depth map and generate anaglyph and other types of images.
User-friendly layout
You are welcomed by a clean GUI that embeds all configuration settings in a single window.
Pictures can be added in the working environment using the built-in browse button (you cannot rely on the drag-and-drop support). The tool works with the following file formats: BMP, PNG, TIFF, JPG, and PSD.
Bas-relief lets you open two photos: one is a colored flat image, while the other represents the depth map. Source flat pictures need to be in greyscale, RGB, CMYK, RGBA (RGB with alpha channel) color mode, while the depth map should be in grayscale and RGB.
Two preview panels are implemented in the GUI for helping you check out the source photo and depth map. You can also access an online help manual in case you want to find out more about how the program works.
Configuration settings
Bas-relief gives you the possibility to set the number of viewpoints for lenticular images, adjust the parallax for 3D effect, as well as alter the stereo window position, which represents the setting for the spatial boundary of the picture.
The application is also able to show the resulting image using the built-in viewer and allows you to delete temporary files that are created during the calculation process.
You are offered the freedom to generate create anaglyph, ViewMaster, cross view, and ChromaDepth images, and several viewpoints for lenticular images.
What’s more, you are allowed to choose the algorithm used for filling the gaps, change the color of the foreground, split layers to create multilayered PSD files using the depth map levels, as well as make use of batch actions for processing multiple 2D and depth map pictures at the same time.
Bottom line
All things considered, Bas-relief accommodates a bunch of handy tools under its hood for helping you generate 2D and 3D images based on a depth map.
