Binary Viewer / Editor Description
Binary Viewer / Editor is a software utility that gives you the possibility to view any file in binary format and make modifications to its structure, regardless of its extension. It's designed for users who like to tinker with items, take them apart, and learn what makes them tick.
Multi-tabbed interface for easy navigation
The program's packed in a user-friendly interface, where the main window has a plain look and neatly organized structure, inviting you to open any file from the computer.
It supports multiple tabs, which means that you can keep multiple viewers opened and easily cycle through them. The name and extension of the file are written on the tabs.
View and edit files in binary, decimal, hex or octal mode
The binary format is automatically displayed right after opening a file. It's possible to move the cursor to any position and edit the 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit and 64-bit values.
You can find out the red, green, blue and alpha channels, along with the file size, hexadecimal and decimal address. Plus, it's possible to jump to any address, as well as resort to a basic search tool to locate ASCII or hex code fast.
Binary Viewer / Editor lets you toggle the display mode between hexadecimal, decimal, octal and binary, as well as set the Little or Big Endian encoding method, depending on your preference. Keyboard shortcuts are supported. Furthermore, you can view a list with recently opened files.
Evaluation and conclusion
The tool hasn't been updated for long, but it didn't have any compatibility issues with later Windows editions in our tests. CPU and RAM usage stayed low, so it didn't hog system resources or affect other running programs. On the other hand, Binary Viewer / Editor doesn't integrate a save function, which makes the editing operation rather redundant.
