BinView Description
BinView is a small-sized and portable utility whose only purpose is to display the binary code of any opened file, regardless of its content type.
It acts as a viewer only, which means that it doesn't implement options for editing file structure and saving these modifications. This kind of software is useful for those who like to take files apart and find out what makes them tick.
Familiar interface for viewing binary data
The interface is a bit dated but easy to navigate. It has a simplistic look similar to Windows Notepad, sheltering all options in a menu bar and toolbar.
Using the built-in file browser, you can locate and open a file to view its binary code. This data is loaded into the window quickly.
Look up data, jump to offsets, and change the font size
It's possible to look up a particular piece of information by resorting to a basic search tool with support for case matching, repeat the last search, as well as go the beginning or ending of the document, or to an offset (fixed or relative).
Furthermore, you can increase or decrease the font size instead of letting the application automatically adjust it to fit the window size, hide the toolbar and status bar, as well as view a list of recently opened files.
Portability advantages
The full package of BinView consists of just one .exe file. It can be dropped onto the hard disk or removable storage devices to run the program on any computer effortlessly. No new entries are generated in the Windows registry in this regard, and no new files are created on the disk without permission. Your settings are remembered on exit.
Simple and straightforward binary viewer
To conclude, BinView comes packed with the necessary and suffice options for viewing the binary code of any file. Resources usage was minimal in our tests.
