If you want to be absolutely sure that no one can access your computer in your absence, then additional security methods must be set in place. Bluelock is a small tool that can do just that.
The program has a simple interface that is quite easy to handle, thanks to the intuitive layout.
Basically, the app scans for a particular Bluetooth device and locks the system if this is not detected. Thus, you only need to have a Bluetooth adapter and a device that is compatible with this technology.
You may select the adapter from a list of local devices, and your phone from the list of discovered Bluetooth addresses. Once the computer becomes connected with your phone, it automatically locks when the device is out of its range. Also, once the Bluetooth phone comes back in range, the app immediately unlocks the computer.
Furthermore, you can adjust the timeout limit to a maximum of 60 seconds.
While this method has some inconveniences, such as a lower batter life for your phone since the Bluetooth has to be on and available at all times, it brings something new in computer privacy security. However, you must keep in mind that Bluetooth devices have a long range so the app can still detect the device when you’re farther away from the computer.
All in all, Bluelock is a nice program that can be quite useful. Less experienced individuals should find it easy to handle, thanks to its overall simplicity.
