Borders N' Shapes Description
Borders N' Shapes is a plugin dedicated to Paint.net, which enables you to add customized borders to your photographs. It features a wide range of configuration settings for users with some minimal experience in this advanced image editor.
Easy integration with Paint.net
To get this extension up and running, it's necessary to download and copy the DLL files to the "Effects" folder of Paint.net, fire it up, and access the new add-on from the "Render" submenu of the "Effects" menu.
If the program's already running, make sure to restart it to finalize the setup of Borders N' Shapes. A tiny icon that looks like a piece of puzzle is displayed right next to the entry of the add-on, which acts like an indicator for all external Paint.net plugins.
Customize border and shape settings
It has a user-friendly panel with a simple design and layout, where you can opt between a rectangle, ellipse, arc and pie shape, set the width, as well as pick the color from the color wheel or enter its RGB code.
Furthermore, you can set a solid, dotted or dashed pattern, adjust the spacing between pixels, as well as adopts flat, round or triangle pattern caps. Anti-aliasing can be enabled or disabled.
Worth mentioning is that photo effects can be previewed in real time, so it's not necessary to commit changes just to be able to view the new pictures and undo the action or remove the last created layer if you're not pleased with the results.
Evaluation and conclusion
Although the software product hasn't received updates for a long time, Borders N' Shapes smoothly integrated with the latest edition of Paint.net in our tests. It didn't trigger the tool to hang, crash or show error messages.
