CabPack

In order to keep your files safe, a good idea is to have them archived, and there are various applications that can help in this regard. CabPack is a compression utility that enables you to create cabinet files with minimum configuration options.

Lightweight and easy to use

All features are grouped in a single window, which makes everything extremely easy to use even for the very beginners, although some of the settings available there may sound like rocket science to them.
Besides the fact that it prompts you to input the source folder or file and the destination folder, you're allowed to choose from two different compression types, MSZIP and LZX. Plus, you need to define compression memory, but also decide whether you wish to include subfolders or not.

Carefully set compression size

An optional field lets you specify the folder where you wish to copy the setup files, while a different panel comprises settings regarding the size of the CAB file. You can go for the 1.44 MB floppy, the 1.68 MB one or the ZIP disk which has a 100 MB capacity.
Last but not least, you have to write down the cabinet file name and choose to create cabinets for 16-bit or 32-bit extractor.

Getting the job done in the blink of an eye

Compression goes blazing fast, but due to the fact that there's not even a help file included in the app, we recommend you to check every option twice before using CabPack.
We've noticed some minor slowdowns during our test, but nothing too serious, so you could try to run CabPack on older systems as well. It runs just fine on most Windows versions, including Windows 7.

All in all, CabPack is yet another utility that does what it says and thanks to the fact that it groups all features in a single window, it takes just a couple of minutes to figure out how to use it. Even though settings seem difficult at first, you quickly get acquainted with its features.
