Canon WIA Network ScanGear

Canon WIA Network ScanGear is a small but effective piece of software which aims to provide you with the ability to locate the digital copiers in a network and turn them into a scanner, enabling you to obtain virtual images of actual documents.
The utility consists of two main components, namely the ‘Device Selection Sheet’ and the ‘WIA Network ScanGear’ driver, the latter of which is accessible through Windows Imaging Acquisition programs.
After the download process, you can extract the archive and run the installer of the application, allowing it to look for available scanners or simply input the IP address of the targeted device.
The process can have a varying duration, but once complete, you are able to manually select the scanner you want to work with, the press ‘OK’.
Scanning for devices may take a while, so by entering its IP, you can save yourself time and proceed onto the next step. Once detected, the ‘Product Name’, ‘Device Name’, ‘Location’, ‘IP Address’ and ‘Feeder’ will be displayed, enabling you to test the connection before moving on.
Canon WIA Network ScanGear can be accessed from the ‘Start’ menu, allowing you to choose the scanner you want to work with. You then need to switch it online, in order for it to be able to function. You can choose the profile that best meets your needs, in certain situations being required to also set the paper, size, file type or resolution.
You can place the document that you want to scan on the device face down, then generate a preview image. If all features are according to your needs, you can press the ‘Scan’ button to obtain your file.System requirementsIBM PC/AT or compatible computer
