Celestia

Celestia is a Windows utility that allows users to explore the Universe in a 3D working environment.
The program sports a clean and intuitive GUI that gives users the possibility to travel throughout the solar system, analyze stars, galaxies, planets, moons, asteroids, comets, and spacecrafts. Plus, it allows users to install plug-ins to expand the program’s functionality.
Celestia lets you find information about eclipses, and you can to go to a specific object by specifying its name, coordinates, and distance. Plus, you can select from various stars, travel back in time by setting the time parameters and explore the Universe at that period, and zoom in or out.
What’s more, you can make the program display cities, landing sites, craters, valleys, volcanoes, seas, and mountains, add bookmarks. When it comes to navigating throughout the Universe, you can use the mouse or keyboard shortcuts.
Not only does the application display the stars, planets and asteroids, but it also provides information about every star of the galaxy, such as the distance from your viewpoint to the selected object, luminosity, diameter, surface temperature, class, and many other details.
Furthermore, you can view Earth atmosphere, nebulae, eclipse shadows, constellation borders, comet tails, and others.
Celestia enables users to take screenshots and save them to JPEG or PNG file format, or record the activity to AVI files, and pick the file size and frame rate.
All things considered, Celestia provides useful information about the Universe, while allowing users to navigate among celestial objects in a 3D environment.
