clippit

clippit is a simple-to-use application capable of storing multiple Clipboard entries, thus giving you the possibility to keep track of your work by retracing your steps. It features intuitive options that can be easily figured out, even by less experienced users.

No setup required, besides .NET Framework

You can save the downloaded program files in a custom location on the hard drive or copy them to a USB flash drive, in order to directly launch it on any computer. Just keep in mind that you must have .NET Framework installed. No modifications are made to the Windows registry, though, and no extra files are created on the disk without your approval.

Systray integration for storing multiple clips

Once launched, it creates an icon in the systray area and immediately becomes active, starting to record your copied clips. These include plain text, URLs, files (file names and extensions), and folders (folder names).
The copied clips can be reviewed in the right-click menu as well as cleared. When it comes to clippit options, you can modify the default maximum number of clips to store and to display in the menu, along with the displayed text length in the window and menu. There are no other notable options provided by this piece of software.

Evaluation and conclusion

It's equipped with approachable options for monitoring the Clipboard to store and review multiple items. The maximum clip storage and other settings can be modified, depending on your preferences.
We haven't come across any compatibility issues in our tests, since the tool didn't hang, crash or prompt errors. It left a small footprint on the system resources, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM. Although it doesn't offer rich features, clippit facilitates an effective solution for storing multiple clips.
