DAT to AVI Converter

As the name of this program suggests, DAT to AVI Converter allows you to change the format of DAT videos into AVI. But it can convert MPG files to AVI as well.
The interface of the tool is uncomplicated and easy to navigate through. Video clips can be imported with the help of only the file browser because the 'drag and drop' method is not supported. Unfortunately, you cannot work with multiple items at the same time.
So, you can preview clips in a built-in media player and cut them by marking the start and end position. Once you establish the output directory and filename from the 'Options' area, you can initialize the conversion procedure with the default settings.
Experienced users can tinker with the audio and video properties when it comes to the resize mode, frame rate, resolution and compressor. Unfortunately, you cannot create output profiles but it is possible to restore settings to their default values.
The video conversion application requires a moderate amount of CPU and system memory, has a good response time and completes a job briefly. DAT to AVI Converter has not caused us any issues in our tests; it did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs.
On the downside, you cannot specify the thread priority or make DAT to AVI Converter open the output directory when the task is done. The fact that batch processing is not supported is a major downside. The interface needs some improvements as well but we must keep in mind the fact that DAT to AVI Converter has not received any updates for a long time.
