dBpoweramp Batch Ripper Description
dBpoweramp Batch Ripper is a Windows tool that enables you to grab audio tracks from CDs and save them to the disk or send them to dBpowerAMP Music Converter, the developer's feature-rich audio conversion application. It doesn't include complex options or configuration settings, making it accessible to all types of users.
Before proceeding any further, you should know that this program cannot work independently from dBpowerAMP Music Converter (it can be separately installed but it doesn't launch). Although Batch Ripper is free to use, Music Converter isn't.
Clean and intuitive interface
As far as the interface is concerned, the app sticks to a basic window with a minimalistic appearance, inviting you to insert audio CDs into the computer unit to examine tracks and select the ones you want to rip. Audio files from multiple CDs can be ripped in batch mode.
It's possible to select the disk drive, refresh media, eject the disc, as well as to view metadata and edit ID3 tags (artist, album, genre, year, album artist, composer, comment).
Rip audio files and apply DSP effects
Audio tracks can be saved to AIFF, Apple Lossless, FLAC, MP3 or WAV format. You can specify the filenaming pattern and output directory, apply covert art, and add a wide range of DSP effects. For instance, you can remove gaps, delete silent tracks, adjust the bit depth, count and map channels, delete the source or destination files on errors, loop audio, or use multi-CPU force.
On task completion, it can be asked to automatically verify the integrity of ripped tracks. There are three ripping methods available (burst, secure, defective by design), and you can select the preferred one.
Evaluation and conclusion
We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests. dBpoweramp Batch Ripper used low CPU and RAM while carrying out ripping jobs rapidly. Thanks to its approachable GUI and options, it can be handled with ease.
