DeepBurner Free is a useful program that can help you create a disc, customize the disc label and burn the files to a CD or DVD. You can also save the disc as an ISO file in order to use it at a later date.
This program has the basic features of a CD burner but also includes some advanced options such as to create an autorun menu. When you create a new project you can choose from three options: to create a data CD/DVD, to create an audio CD or to burn an ISO image. Each of these options has different parameters.
When you create a data disc you can choose to create a new multisession disc or to append a new session to an already burnt disc. Adding data to the disc (files or folders) can be done easily through drag and drop.
You can create an Autorun menu that allows the user to access certain items from the disc. The Autorun designer window is quite easy to use, although not looking very appealing, and allows you to add buttons for certain actions. The layout of the menu can be changed by dragging the items with your mouse.
The next step is to design the disc label and the booklet for the disc case. You can add multiple items and arrange them into layers in order to create a CD case. The program includes a few templates that cover the frequently user disc cases.
Before burning the disc you can select the writer or the writing speed and erase the disc that is currently in the drive. If you want to burn the project at a later date you can save the settings or the entire project as an ISO file.
When you want to create an audio CD you the first step is to add the audio files, then design the disc label before burning the files to the disc. After all the files have been loaded you can customize the content by renaming the tracks and changing their order.
On the downside, what DeepBurner Free lacks is the ability to author DVD-video. This feature is reserved for the professional version of the product.
