DeleteLongPath Description
DeleteLongPath is a reliable and efficient application that aims to assist you in performing one very important operation, that of completely deleting folders with very large names.
Windows has been known to experience difficulty when it comes to erasing folders or files with extremely long names, specifically those surpassing 260 characters. As such, it is possible that once or even more, you have been confronted with the inability to remove an item from your PC simply because of the extent of its name.
DeleteLongPath is sufficiently simple to understand and use, featuring a very basic and unimpressive interface. It only requires that you browse for the directory you target and load it into the main window. Afterward, you can just press on the 'Delete' button and the tool will take care of the rest.
The utility removes the entire folder, including very deep-structured ones; in the case of important directories, you might have to provide administrator credentials in order to be able to erase them.
Though it is quite useful, DeleteLongPath can only work with one item at a time, meaning that if your computer is plagued by a great amount of directories whose name is longer than 260 characters, you will have to address each item at a time, which can prove quite a hassle and can also consume a lot of time. Additionally, DeleteLongPath does not automatically locate the folders that match these criteria and provide you with the results, in fact you have to browse for them yourself.
However, the program does work in command line mode, requiring simply that you input the appropriate arguments, meaning you can very well delete items corresponding to the functions of this tool using whichever method you prefer.
To conclude, DeleteLongPath can prove helpful in certain situations that your operating system cannot deal with, as it enables you to remove those annoying directories with deep structures and a filename of over 260 symbols.
