devRantron Description
As a developer, you may have heard about devRant, a blooming platform where developers can complain about and connect over their daily issues with comments, memes, up votes and all that social media platter.
DevRant doesn't have an official desktop client, and since the platform is fairly new, there aren't that many clients (and good ones, at that) out there.
As simple to install as it is to work with
This is why you might be interested in knowing a few things about devRantron, an open-source and Electron-based client that brings the devRant platform and its community a bit closer to you, directly on your computer's desktop. That said, download the app, run the installer, launch the application and log-in using your official devRant credentials.
Right off the bat, we'll admit that it's not exactly spectacular regarding looks or functionality. However, it does a good job at emulating the devRant's web app functionality with some extra goodies like smart and highly-configurable notifications, for example.
Somewhat interesting devRant client that brings the full functionality of the platform to your computer's desktop
It almost goes without saying that the client provides you with the full functionality of the platform, including posts, comments, emojis. There are five, distinct sections that you are able to work with located on the left side of the main window, right underneath the avatar section: Rants, Collabs, Stories, Custom, and Settings.
Being a developer and all, we're guessing you will find the functionality fairly straightforward, and there's really no need to go into too much detail. And, as far as your possible reluctance towards using an Electron-app, we're going to say this: yes, it's a bit on the "slow" side but, it's not like you're in a timed-session of hardcore programming here, it's just devRant.
Open source devRant client for your computer
All in all, as far as devRant clients go, devRantron is definitely one of the best with a bespoke interface, as well as support for notifications and rant filtering. It should get even better in the future with the addition of various UI themes and other improvements.
