Dimoz Description

Needless to say that you can find mostly any type of information over the web. Results are usually obtained through a web browser, but there are also methods to cut this middle man. For instance, specialized applications like Dimoz can sit on your desktop and provide different results from various sources, without using a web browser.

Provides result from various sources

With the setup process over in real time, you quickly get the chance to check out the application’s set of features. The visual design isn’t really disturbing, being wrapped around an Aero window, but it can be a little frustrating, because it can’t be resized, nor maximized to benefit from the entire screen.
What the application does is to provide a means of looking up items of interest over the web without having to use a web browser. Several sources are at your disposal, each showing a particular set of info, such as Wikipedia, Google results, as well as images and videos. Sadly, engines are not fitted with tags, so you first go through a few trials to figure them out.

Lacks basic navigation controls

Results are delivered in the same window, regardless of the type you request. There might be some inconsistencies with modern types of content, but it’s not a general rule. You’re free to use links within pages, but note that there’s no turning back.
A dedicated menu helps you return to the launch screen to start searching for new strings. It would have been useful to see a field on the menu bar, or a few navigation controls. A cool thing is to assign a hotkey command to the application’s shortcut to launch it from any Explorer location.

A few last words

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Dimoz might just come in handy for quickly identifying items of interest over the web. Unfortunately, it’s devoid of some comfort features, such as navigation controls, let alone a bookmarks manager.
