Disable Autorun Completely Description
Disable Autorun Completely is a small-sized application designed to deactivate the autoplay feature in Windows XP, 2000, Server 2003, Vista, and Server 2008. It carries out the task by applying security patches created by Microsoft for this purpose.
Two executable files can be downloaded separately. The one for Windows XP is KB967715 and also works for Windows 2000 and Server 2004. The one for Windows Vista is called KB953252 and can be deployed on Windows Server 2008 too. More information about these security patches can be examined on Microsofts website (KB articles).
Users must have an active Internet connection to be able to use Disable Autorun Completely because it downloads the patches from Microsoft to install it and turn off the autorun function of the operating system. The tool requires minimal intervention, as its only necessary to click the start button to trigger the entire process, during which users can view status details. Rebooting the computer may be required to finalize setup and commit modifications.
The autorun feature is a weak spot that leaves computers open to malware attacks via pen drives and other kinds of removable storage devices. Due to the portability of these devices, an infection can be effortlessly spread across multiple machines by just plugging the flash drives into the computer units, thus triggering the autoplay. Therefore, its strongly recommended to deactivate this feature for all devices as well as USB ports.System requirementsInternet connection
