DisAsm

As their name suggests, disassembling tools as far as computer program are concerned are basically tools used for reverting the operation of an assembler, which is to turn assembly language into something that can be interpreted by machines.
To put it shortly, disassemblers are generally used for reverse engineering in order to get access to the source code of a program.

No installation required

DisAsm is designed for disassembling and it works independently of Visual Studio, which adds to its flexibility.
There is no need to install the utility because it functions out of the box, as soon as the compressed content is extracted from the archive.

Console-based interface

However, keep in mind that this is a console-based application. It is not intended for the average user nor for performing illegal operations.
As soon as loaded, the tool informs of the options available. These are -b, -l and -f and they allow adding the raw code bytes to the instruction that it builds, including the line number of the source file and the name of the file next to the assembly.
The tool is quite simple and it works with Windows PE files such as EXE, DLL, OCX, SYS or SCR. Working with it is far from being difficult for more experienced users, especially since the tool includes the necessary technical documentation for handling it.

Conclusion

DisAsm is not a regular disassembler as it does not work like IDA or Hiew but it can help with disassembling binary programs and it works independently of Visual Studio.
