Disguise Folders

Disguise Folders is a tiny and portable Windows app that enables users to disguise folders in a clever manner, by making them look like system apps. It does not require password protection.

The advantages of portable apps

Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can drop the executable item in any directory on the hard disk and just click it to run.
There is also the option to save a copy of Disguise Folders to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.
An important aspect to take into account is that the Windows registry and Start menu do not get updated with new entries, so no traces are left behind after the tool's removal.

Simple and intuitive interface

The GUI is based on a single window that provides quick access to all available options. You can get started by selecting the folder you want to disguise with the help of the tree view only, since the drag-and-drop method is unsupported.

Quickly disguise folders

In the following step you can choose the system tool you want to "replace" the respective directory with (e.g. Action Center, Fonts, Troubleshooting, User Accounts), and click a button to immediately apply the new changes. Accessing the disguised item actually opens the selected system tool.

Easily recover disguised folders

In order to recover a directory, all you have to do is select the disguised item and enter the original folder name. There are no other notable features provided by this piece of software.

Performance and conclusion

Disguise Folders does not affect the overall performance of the computer, since it consumes low CPU and RAM. We have not come across any type of issues throughout our testing, since the app did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. Thanks to its overall simplicity, it can be handled by all users.
