DIY Layout Creator Description
DIY Layout Creator is a simple-to-use program that enables you to create and design board layouts for PCB, Perfboard or Stripboard. It comes packed with some essential tools and no advanced configuration parameters, making it ideal for less experienced users.
The interface consists of a single window, where you can create a new project by inputting layout properties in regard to the type, size, project name, and credits.
You can select a tool from the toolbox to make it active, and click any part of the layout to insert it. It can be text, a cut track, jumper, capacitor, diode, LED, electrolyte, transistor, switch, wire, audio jack or tube socket, among other options.
A handy feature integrated by DIY Layout Creator is represented by the Explorer pane, where you can view a list of all used tool types and click an item to automatically select/highlight it in the layout.
The project can be saved to file for further modifications, printed, or published to an image (GIF, JPG or BMP format). In addition, you can export the bill of materials to a plain text document (TXT format), undo your actions, edit layout properties, as well as check the connectivity between any two selected points in the board.
The tool uses a low-to-moderate quantity of CPU and RAM, so it shouldn't put a strain on system performance. It has a good response time and works smoothly, delivering quality images. No error dialogs have been shown in our tests, and the app did not hang or crash. Although it has not been updated for a while, DIY Layout Creator offers a straightforward solution to creating board layouts without configuring complicated settings.
