Docx Reader is a lightweight program with a pretty self-explanatory name - it allows you to view the content of DOCX files, supported by Microsoft Word.
Therefore, you don't need to have the Microsoft Office suite installed on your computer, in order to view this type of documents. The app can be easily handled, even by less experienced users.
The interface of the tool is based on a standard window and an intuitive layout where you can import documents by using either the file browser or 'drag and drop' method.
Besides viewing documents, you can also save them to the HTML format. This option is necessary if you want to copy text or images, since Docx Reader does not allow these options within the interface. From the 'Help' menu you can visit the developer's homepage.
The program puts little strain on the computer's resources; it uses a low-to-moderate amount of CPU and system memory. Docx Reader has a good response time and didn't freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs during our tests.
On the downside, the app comes with limited options but we must keep in mind the fact that Docx Reader has never been updated. All in all, if you are looking for a fast and lightweight alternative to Microsoft Word, then Docx Reader can be of assistance.
