Drive Led Tool Description
As far as hardware components go, these can be equipped with a variety of cool lighting effects and indicators. For instance, most computers come with LED indicators for activity, just so you know whether it’s working hard, or frozen. In this regard, Drive Led Tool comes as an alternative, sitting in the tray area.
HDD indicators in the tray area
Setup is over before you realize, and you can even have the application launched as soon as the installer closes to see what it’s all about. As mentioned, it resides to the tray area, and you instantly know which icons represent it. In fact, there isn’t even an interface to work with, and little to no effort is required on your behalf.
The application places one or more LED indicators in the tray area to display hard disk drive activity. Sadly, the application doesn’t create an extra indicator for removable drives, but doesn’t even read them anyway. Indicators flash to show whenever info is written and read to and from the specific drive.
No possibility to customize indicators
It comes with a rather straightforward set of features, being purely informative. There are no customization options, even though you can easily tell which drive is which. It would have been useful to at least see a few different icons to make it suit your style.
Indicators only provide read and write operations, and there’s nothing to display available or occupied space. A single click opens up the specific drive. Note that there is no built-in option to make it run on startup, but you can manually place a shortcut inside the system Startup folder.
A few last words
All things considered, we can state that Drive Led Tool comes with good intentions, but it offers incredibly little info. It’s not capable of reading removable drives, while the lack of customization options leaves much to be desired overall.
