DriveSight for SharePoint Description
DriveSight is a compact, customizable freeware tool designed by Trilogy Solutions to assist the SharePoint community in analyzing drives, folders and files which may be uploaded into, or indexed by, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. DriveSight can analyze both local drives as well as drives across the network, categorizing each file by size, type, age, and whether or not its indexable or blocked by SharePoint. DriveSight displays the results in real-time during the scan, and generates a comprehensive printable report with tables and charts. In order to for SharePoint Consultants and SharePoint Administrators to properly configure MOSS to house or index this content, its really important to understand the data. How much can actually be full-text indexed for Search? What percentage of that file share is Word Documents vs. jpegs? If we decide to upload the file share into a document library, how much of it will be blocked due to SharePoints default "Blocked File Types" list? How many of these files havent been modified in several years, and perhaps dont belong in SharePoint? These are the types of questions that DriveSight is designed to answer. Its completely free, and we hope you find it as useful as we do.
