DWG Cataloger Description
DWG Cataloger is a straightforward application that enables you to extract thumbnail images from AutoCAD drawings with the DWG format, in order to generate an HTML page containing a table with links to the drawings.
No setup required, besides .NET Framework
The whole tool's wrapped in a single .exe file that can be saved in any location on the disk and simply double-clicked to launch DWG Cataloger. Another possibility is to copy it to a USB flash drive to run it on any PC with minimum effort. Just keep in mind that you must have .NET Framework installed. No changes are made to the Windows registry, though.
Straightforward interface
As far as the interface is concerned, the utility adopts a user-friendly window that lists all options available, giving you the possibility to add as many DWGs to the task list as you want from files or directories.
When it comes to output options, you can specify the saving directories for the extracted previews and new HTML file, use relative or absolute paths, as well as modify the default number of columns in the HTML table.
The operation is triggered with one click, after which you can examine results in the destination folders. There are no other notable settings provided by the app.
Evaluation and conclusion
It's equipped with approachable options for generating HTML pages using thumbnail images extracted from DWG files. Tasks were carried out quickly in our tests, during which the program remained light on system resources consumption.
On the other hand, it failed in its attempt to successfully finish some jobs and displayed error dialogs. We must also take into account that DWG Cataloger hasn't been updated for a long time and likely has compatibility issues with newer Windows editions. Nevertheless, you can test it for yourself.
