Easy AVI / VCD / DVD / MPEG Converter is an application with a pretty self-explanatory title - it allows you to encode video tracks between the AVI and MPEG formats, as well as WMV.
The interface of the program is very plain and easy to navigate through. Media files can be imported into the queue by using the file browser only, since the "drag and drop" method is not supported. Batch processing is allowed.
In the list you can check out the source and output directory, duration and status of each file. So, once you specify the output profile, destination and filename, you can proceed with the encoding process.
In addition, you can merge and split videos, preview the clips during conversion, as well as remove items from the list and configure some video settings (e.g. codec, WMV profile).
The video conversion program takes up a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, can guide you to an online FAQ page and quickly finishes a task while generally preserving a good image and sound quality (although it is not excellent).
However, it seems that Easy AVI / VCD / DVD / MPEG Converter has some stability issues with Windows 7. It crashed and failed to convert videos on numerous occasions during our test, without notifying us of any issues. Plus, we were not able to access “Settings” (clicking the action didn't do anything). In this case, we can only suggest you look for a more powerful tool.
