Egg Timer Vista Gadget is a simple tool designed to help you schedule a reminder after a certain time interval. As the name clearly specifies, you can use it as an egg timer but also for other activities that need a countdown reminder.
When you are using the computer and focus on your work, it is difficult to remember when you need to stop a boiling egg or tend to a certain task. It is easy to forget about everything else if you are not using a reminder of some sort.
This gadget aims to fill that position by providing you with a countdown timer that is permanently displayed on your desktop. You can view the remaining time at all times and even place it on top of the other windows in order to view the visual notification.
The gadget includes the option to select an audio file in order to hear an alarm go off when the time interval expires. Unfortunately, you cannot use your own audio file but the list includes most of the Windows default sounds which should be enough for a timer alarm.
In order to set the timer you need to drag the time wheel and select the number of minutes until the event time. The gadget supports time intervals up to 59 minutes and displays the passing seconds while it is running.
You can modify the number of minutes at any time by dragging the time wheel but the current reminder cannot be cancelled without closing the gadget. While this tools aims to emulate a real egg timer, some users might find the ticking sound annoying when they need to focus on their work.
The Egg Timer Vista Gadget is useful for reminding you about the events that take place in under one hour. For larger time intervals you need to find another solution or use a personal organizer.
